1 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: 2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; I Peter 5:1-3

We are a church that:

Holds God’s word as sacred.
We believe that God inspired the Bible (2 Tim. 3:13-17) and that it contains answers to every Bible question.  The Bible is a communication of the things that God wanted us to know so we can draw closer to him.  As Christians, our responsibility is to study God’s word and correctly apply it (2 Tim. 2:15.)  At Camden Avenue, you will always find us openly and honestly searching God’s word.

Teaches About Salvation.
Everyone is in the same boat for “all have sinned” (Rom. 3:23.)  The New Testament reveals God’s plan for our salvation and that is what we strive to teach.  Jesus loved us and died horribly on the cross for all mankind.  Now he calls us to himself (Matt. 11:28-30.)  We encourage everyone to accept the Lord by expressing humble faith and obedience to Him.  We simply follow the New Testament pattern given for our salvation.

Comes Together To Worship God.
First century Christians met on the first day of the week to remember the Lord’s death (Acts 20:7) and to remember God’s physical blessings when they gave (1 Cor. 16:1-2.)  We meet on the first day of the week for the same reasons.  We praise God by singing, prayer, and teaching also.  We assemble at other times as well for prayer or Bible study.  All of our services follow the New Testament pattern and seek to be as spiritual as possible.

Seeks Unity Among All Believers.
Jesus prayed, and died, that his followers might be “one.”  It does not fit the definition of unity to have multiple churches, teaching and practicing multiple things, and somehow this means everybody is accepted.  Somebody is going to be sadly fooled (Matt. 7:21-23.)  We believe that the only way unity will ever be achieved as Jesus wanted it, is to use the same standard – The Bible.  We cannot use our opinions, creeds, or judgments and ever expect to please the Lord.  For everything we do at Camden Avenue, we seek book, chapter, and verse authority to show ourselves pleasing to the Lord.
