Sound Familiar?

Brother Sam had a busy day. Sam is a salesman and had made over a dozen cold calls that day and didn’t have much luck. He traveled many miles that day but now was on his way home. He got there just in time to get cleaned up, grab a bite to eat, and get to church that night. Of course this was a little inconvenient because his vacation started the next day and he would rather be home packing for it instead of having to be at church.

Sister Becky had a tough day at work before heading home. She knew she should get ready for church but time was short and the church building was in the opposite direction from her house. Although there was time to get the TV dinners heated for the kids, it was just to rough for her. So she didn’t go to the service that night.

A family arrived at church that night having argued about everything on the way. The teenage daughter complained that her parents weren’t fair in making her dress modestly and the boy complained that his gameboy had to be left at home. Mom and Dad exchanged complaints about how bad their day was. They were late for service but that was OK because the service was late in starting. The song leader was out in the parking lot trying to sell a car and the preacher was busy talking politics with another member.

So the service started - members present and absent. The announcer looked out over the troubled masses assembled and made the usual excuses for so many being gone but the worship attempt was made anyway.. All these people are good folks and at least show some interest in spiritual things. But most of them are just too busy for God. Sound familiar? The names were changed to protect the innocent.
