Holiness

The Bible declares that God is holy.  “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory” (Isaiah 6:3.)  From one end of the Bible to the other, we see the holiness of God described.  There is no one that compares with God and He answers to no one.  He is without equal.  As servants of God, Christians mirror that holiness of God.  Christians strive to live lives of purity, godliness, and spiritual beauty.

The opposite of holiness is vulgarity, carnality, and sensual behavior.  The Roman empire literally imploded because of immoral living and practices and the United States will be no different unless things change.  Movies, television, and modern music all preach things opposite of the holiness of God.  Ungodly clothing styles and speech abound.  It is going to take deep resolve and a dogged loyalty to biblical principles if this country is to head off judgment.

But it can be done.  Christians can stand out in the midst of a corrupt generation.  ”And with many other words did he testify and exhort saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation” (Acts 2:40.)  Saving ourselves from this crooked generation not only involves our obedience to the gospel (repenting and being baptized - Acts 2:38,) but also standing out in that generation with lives that mirror the holiness of God.

“Evil companions corrupt good morals” (1 Cor. 15:33.)  Let us flee from the vile entanglements that surround us and instead flee to our God.  We teach our children to sing, “O be careful little eyes what you see....” but that is good advice for all Christians.  Watch your eyes, your ears, your lips, your hands, and your feet and live lives “in the Lord.”  Let folks take note that “you have been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13) and influence them to do the same.
