Lessons from Noah
Genesis 6:1-22
I. His World
A. Verse 5 - Man’s every thought was evil continually
B. Verse 11 - 13: All were corrupt (morally) and violent
C. God was grieved and sorry He made man (v. 6)
D. Sounds like a description of conditions today doesn’t it?
II. Noah Was A Survivor
A. Noah lived godly in an evil world and so can we
B. Note the description of his character in verse 9
1. Just - Stood opposed to wickedness
2. blameless - Not just opposed but lived right himself
3. Walked with God - the object of his desire
4. We can live pleasing to god in our evil world too.
III. Noah Raised Godly Children
A. His children went on the ark with him
B. Our responsibility - Eph. 6:4
C. We often blame the evil influences around us (evolution, humanism, evil society, etc) and seem to make it someone else’s fault. Noah did not do it that way but raised his kids despite a corrupt world.
IV. Noah’s Faith (Hebrews 11:7)
A. Arks and floods had not been seen before
B. He believed God and moved in obedience
C. When we believe something, we act on it
V. Noah Accepted Authority
A. He built the ark according to God’s plan
B. God gave us a plan today and we must follow His plan not ours
